It may be and end of an era in Missouri politics. Reports say the U.S. Senator and former governor Kit Bond may not be seeking re-election in 2010, leaving the door open for candidates from both sides in a campaign that starts… NOW!

  1. Interesting. I can think of several former St. Louis Politicians who should but won’t get that seat.

  2. I hear rumors that Sen. John Loudon is seriously considering throwing his name in the hat. Would be nice to send a real conservative to DC for once.

  3. I hope Lacy runs. I would love to get rid of him as my cnogressman. Peter Kinder will be the GOP candidate. Loudon, give me a break.

  4. Oh Puleeeeze. Loudon is a real conservative, yes, but he’s a real lightweight, too. Kind of a young Roland Burris. The Missourian who would make the best senator is Jim Talent.

  6. This decision wouldn’t have anything to do with the things he said in Cape Girardeau on October 20, 2008.

The title implies that the gay community would find this outrageous, but really most of the outrage came from disability advocates.

“Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges,” Bond said. “He said, ‘I’m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.’”

  7. Did I say October 20? I mean to say October 30.
