THANK YOU to the people of the 21st Ward

Last night I was reminded of the final scene of one of my favorite movies, “The Candidate”. After Robert Redford’s character realizes he has won his election after a long and arduous campaign, he asks his campaign advisor, “What do we do now?”

For us in the 21st Ward the answer is clear: Now we begin the hard work of rebuilding our northside community.

For my friends and supporters outside my ward: Now we begin to organize across this city to make St. Louis a better place to live, work and play for ALL of our people.

I am so very appreciative of all the support from the people of the 21st Ward and my friends beyond its boundaries. Thank you all!

  6. Speaking of the general election–will you be endorsing the Slay-Blunt-Sinquefield ticket, or will you say some kind words for Maida Coleman–who is more of a democrat than Slay will ever be?

King will start her recall efforts as soon as you are sworn in. Mad cause she lost.

  10. Congratulations Toni… (ALDERMAN FRENCH, 21st Ward)

I knew you would win, not because we are family, but because you are just that, A WINNER! I never doubted your ability to get to this point and here’s why:

    1) Your Heart is right
    2) You LOVE the people
    3) You have a vision as a young man to make things happen for
    the betterment of “EVERYONE”
    4) You are able to dream and when you “wake up”, you get busy
doing the “WORK” to bring those dreams to fruition
    5) Last & certainly not Least…You are your Grandmothers vision
for her dreams (Committee Woman, Myrtle French salutes you!)

Thank you for all you do and plan to do and don’t hesitate to call
on me for whatever I can do to help you.

  11. Congrats Antonio,
What does this mean for the future of PubDef? You’re now wearing a very different hat. An infusion of new ideas, energy and motivation at the board is much needed.

  12. Pub def has had some good insights into SLPS. Robert Joiner writes some good stuff over at stlbeacon.org I am surprised the comments have not been very numerous.

  13. Aldermen-elect French, that has a great ring to it my brother! Finally, a new day in the 21st Ward and throughout the city, a new generation of leadership to rebuild, reorganize, reenergize, and uplift people’s hopes and dreams–reinforce that educating our children to be responsible citizens and tomorrow’s leaders is of the utmost importance. You always have had and will continue to have my support. And remember our mantra…Don’t hate that playa, hate his game!!

  14. answers to the Redford question:

    1. pretend it does not matter whether Mayor Slay is re-elected over the opposition of Maida Coleman.

    2. Quietly think about the ACLU story regarding st. louis jails. Very quietly.
