The kick-off to the Missouri Democratic campaign season is the annual gathering in Hannibal, Mo for Democrat Days. Last weekend, March 5th & 6th, was the 39th Annual Democrat Days which had quite a turn out.
On Saturday morning former Senator Jean Carnahan had a book signing and coffee. Among other speaking at brunch were Attorney General Chris Koster and Governor Jay Nixon.
After brunch was served Senator Claire McCaskill was the main was speaker. She spoke very frankly about her current frustrations in Washington to get anything done to Republican obstruction.
The banquet in the evening was energetic with the current Secretary of State and 2010 candidate for US Senate Robin Carnahan speaking. She gave a fiery speech as to why she was running as she introduced the keynote speaker.
The keynote speaker was Jim Hightower who provided many digs into the Republican top runner to oppose Carnahan for the Seante seat, Roy Blunt.
While walking the halls and networking at Democrat Days, there were many conversations being had about strategy, candidates, making contributions to campaigns, and getting more Democrats on office all over the state.
The next big Missouri Democratic event is the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on March 19th in St. Louis.
