Census Shows 8% Loss in City Population

The results of the 2010 U.S. Census released Thursday, February 24, show that the population of the City of St. Louis continued to decline over the last decade, now reaching it’s lowest level since the latter part of the 19th Century.

Despite early estimates that predicted the city’s population had actually increased to around 347,181, reversing decades of decline, the official number put the 2010 population at just 319,294, with every ward in the city declining in population except four.
