Young St. Louisians will take to the streets next Tuesday as the “Obama Strikeforce”, the official get out the vote vehicle of the Young Democrats of Greater St. Louis. Armed with accoutrements of modern communication, like Twitter-enabled cell phones and digital cameras, the Strikeforce will broadcast their Election Day findings to YouTube.com, Twitter.com and Flickr.com.
The Young Dems are looking for field reporters to drive to all polling locations in St. Louis and report what they find there—be it long lines, free doughnuts, or acts of voter fraud or suppression. Martin Casas, president of the Young Democrats of Greater St. Louis said that the live updates and posts to www.obamastrikeforce.com are going to “chronicle what is going on in St. Louis during one of the most important elections in U.S. history. But it is also going to serve as a portal to put out fires and see what is really happening out in the field on Election Day with no filter whatsoever.”
Any users of the popular microblogging Web site Twitter.com can text or “tweet” updates to 314.437.9347 and those reports will be posted to the official Strikeforce Twitter account.
Anyone interested in being a field reporter on Election Day can e-mail info@obamastrikeforce.com for more information, or call 314.437.9347.
